Lip Blushing
Wake up with perfectly tinted lips — every single day. Lip blushing is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo treatment that enhances the natural shape, symmetry, and color of your lips. Pigment is deposited just beneath the surface of the skin to create a soft, diffused flush of color that mimics the look of naturally beautiful lips — completely customized to your lip shape, skin tone, and personal style.
Whether you want a subtle, your-lips-but-better tint or a more defined, bold look, lip blushing is fully customizable. It can correct asymmetry, add the appearance of fullness, and eliminate the need for daily lip liner or lipstick.
| Look | Description | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Soft Flush | Sheer, natural tint | Subtle enhancement |
| Defined Lip | Enhanced shape with fuller color | More definition and symmetry |
| Bold Blush | Rich, saturated color | Dramatic, makeup-like finish |
Results can last 2 to 3 years with proper care. No more reapplying lip liner or lipstick throughout the day — just effortless, gorgeous lips from the moment you wake up.
Best For: All skin types — we'll recommend the right color and technique for you at your appointment.
⚠️ Please Note: A touch-up appointment is recommended 6–8 weeks after your initial session. This is a normal and essential part of the process — the touch-up ensures your color heals perfectly and evenly.
How to Prepare
Getting ready for your lip blushing appointment is just as important as the treatment itself. Follow these steps for the best possible results:
- Hydrate your lips — begin moisturizing your lips daily with a nourishing lip balm at least 1 week before your appointment. Well-hydrated lips hold pigment better and heal more evenly
- Skip blood thinners — avoid alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen, aspirin, and fish oil for at least 24 hours before your appointment to minimize bleeding and ensure better pigment absorption
- No lip fillers — if you've had lip filler, wait at least 4 weeks before your lip blushing appointment. If you plan to get filler after, wait until your lips are fully healed (4–6 weeks post-treatment)
- Cold sore prone? — this is critical. Any trauma to the lips can trigger a cold sore outbreak. If you have a history of cold sores or fever blisters, you MUST contact your doctor before your appointment to get a prescription antiviral medication (such as Valtrex) to take before and after your treatment
- No retinol near the lips — avoid retinol and vitamin A products around the lip area for at least 2 weeks before your appointment
- Exfoliate gently — lightly exfoliate your lips a few days before your appointment to remove any dry or flaky skin, then follow with a moisturizing balm
- Arrive as you are — come with clean lips, free of lipstick or gloss, so your artist can assess your natural lip color and shape
Aftercare
Your lips will go through several stages of healing over the next 4–6 weeks — this is completely normal. They will appear very bold and saturated at first, then soften, flake, and may look lighter or uneven during healing. Don't panic — the true color and definition reveal themselves once healing is complete.
The First 24 Hours
- Gently blot the lip area with a clean tissue to absorb any excess lymph fluid — this helps prevent heavy scabbing
- Keep lips clean and avoid touching them
- Drink through a straw to minimize contact with the treated area
Days 1–14: Daily Care Routine
- Cleanse gently — using clean fingertips and a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser, softly cleanse the lip area morning and night. Always pat dry with a clean tissue — never rub
- Moisturize constantly — apply a thin layer of your provided aftercare ointment (such as Aquaphor) with a clean cotton swab after each wash and throughout the day as needed. Lips must stay moisturized at all times during healing
- Let it flake naturally — peeling and flaking are completely normal in the first week. Do not pick, scratch, or peel — this can pull pigment and cause patchy results
What To Avoid (First 14 Days)
- Water directly on lips — avoid soaking lips. In the shower, keep your face away from the direct stream
- Lipstick or lip products — no makeup or lip products directly on the treated area until fully healed
- Spicy, salty, or acidic foods — these can irritate healing skin and affect pigment retention
- Sweating — avoid intense workouts, saunas, and steam rooms for 7–10 days
- Sun exposure — keep lips out of direct sunlight. Do not apply sunscreen directly on the lips until fully healed — wear a hat or stay in the shade
- Kissing and facial treatments — avoid kissing and any facial treatments near the lip area until fully healed
Long-Term Care
- Once healed, apply a broad-spectrum SPF lip balm daily to protect your color from fading
- Avoid chemical peels and laser treatments directly on or near the lip area
- Schedule your touch-up at 6–8 weeks — this appointment is essential for perfecting your results
- Depending on your skin type and lifestyle, a yearly color refresh is recommended to maintain vibrancy
✨ Pro tip: Oily skin types and those who frequently exfoliate may experience slightly faster fading — talk to us at your appointment about the best long-term maintenance plan for your skin.
